We are so happy to announce a Dyeing and Bread Making Workshop Retreat with the incredibly talented Textile artist Maggie Pate and wonderful Baker Sarah Dodge this August in the beautiful Hudson Valley, NY.

Our retreat will begin late afternoon of August 12th as you are introduced to your home for four nights the stunning Windrift Hall a renovated 1790’s Federal Manor house on fourteen beautiful acres in the picturesque Hudson Valley.

We will spend our mornings kneading dough, mid mornings dyeing in the gardens, delicious lunches by the pond or meadows, afternoons till dusk will be more dyeing and baking. There will be foraging by the stone walls, forest and meadows. Swimming in a spring filled pond, walks and conversation their will opportunity for yoga and meditation throughout. Beautifully dinners will be prepared with local source organic ingredients right from the Hudson valley and our gardens and we will feast by candlelight while enjoying intimate conversations and time under the stars.

Day One Learning

Sarah will teach the basics about the fundamentals of Sourdough, natural fermentation, kneading and preparation of boules.

Maggie will teach how to turn food scrapes and waste into magnificent colors, You will dye a bread bag and tote.

Day Two Learning

Sarah will teach you how bake off your pain au levain and then move onto mixing sourdough brioche. Which will get rolled as cinnamon rolls.

Maggie will teach Indigo from India to Japan to Greece- Indigo has been the foundation of century old textile Traditions. You will learn about indigo as dye material and dye a linen apron as well as personal fiber, whether an old garment, shoes or something new.

Day Three Learning

Sarah will teach how to bake the cinnamon rolls and learn to do a little southern buttermilk biscuit bake as well as go over any questions that you might have.

Maggie will teach you bundle dye as you design and steam dye a silk scarf with foraged flowers from the property and answer questions.


All Materials for Baking and Dyeing will be provided as well as the opportunity to bring your own.
